Tavares

Coming off back-to-back wins over Spencer Fisher and more recently Sam Stout, Thiago Tavares has reportedly agreed to step in for the injured Dennis Hallman, and will fight Tony Ferguson at the May 5th, UFC on Fox 3 card.

The updated bout, which will take place at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, was reported by the Brazilian publication Tatame.com. The UFC has not officially announced the new match-up.

Ferguson (13-2) continues to impress since he knocked out Ramsey Nijem last June to win the thirteenth edition of “The Ultimate Fighter,” as the lightweight has gone on to record victories over veterans Aaron Riley and Yves Edwards.

Prior to his victories over Fisher and Stout, Tavares (17-4) was KO’d by Shane Roller at the UFC Live 3 card last March. The lightweight has gone 3-1-1 in his last five bouts.

The UFC on FOX 3 card will be headlined by a lightweight bout between Jim Miller and Nate Diaz.

Some of the other main card fights scheduled for the event include Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson, Johny Hendricks vs. Josh Koscheck and Alan Belcher vs. Rousimar Palhares.
