Report: Title Fights Planned for First Bellator PPV

By FCF Staff

Bellator’s first pay-per-view event will be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between former UFC champs “Rampage” Jackson and Tito Ortiz, but according to multiple reports, the card will feature title fights as well.

The promotion’s CEO Bjorn Rebney announced during a media call Monday, regarding the November 2nd event, that lightweight champion Michael Chandler is also expected to compete. Who the undefeated fighter might face has yet to be determined. David Jansen was originally scheduled to fight Chandler next, but the lightweight injured his knee and had to undergo surgery earlier this year. Recent tourney winner David Rickels stepped in as his replacement, but was knocked out by Chandler at Bellator 97.

Rebney also relayed that the promotion hopes to have “a lot” of championship bouts on the card, and that the event could also feature featherweight champion Pat Curran.

The November 2nd event will be hosted by the Long Beach Arena in California.
