T.J. Grant

By FCF Staff

TJ Grant recently lost his chance to unseat lightweight king Benson Henderson at UFC 164 due to a concussion he’s incurred, and the vet has revealed he may not return to a title fight when he’s ready to compete again.

The 29 year-old lightweight, who has won five straight fights, relayed on The MMA Hour Monday that he is not guaranteed a title fight next. According to Grant, UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has informed him that if he doesn’t fight for the title a pivotal bout, like a title shot eliminator, would be next.. Grant also added he’s hoping to be ready to fight by November.

Grant was tapped to fight Henderson after stopped Gray Maynard at UFC 160 in May. The Nova Scotia fighter was concussed while grappling several weeks back, however, and after his symptoms continued Grant was forced to withdraw.

Anthony Pettis, who had been scheduled to fight Jose Aldo at UFC 163 until he injured his knee, will fight Henderson on August 31st.
