For several weeks the expectation has been that Colby Covington would be next to fight UFC welterweight champ, Tyron Woodley. But it’s being reported that a recently rumored bout between Woodley and Darren Till, is going to take place on September 8th.

ESPN is reporting that Dana White has confirmed that Woodley and Till will fight at UFC 228, which will take place in Dallas, Texas. The bout has been planned since interim champ Colby Covington has reportedly undergone surgery for a nasal issue, and won’t be ready to fight until closer to the end of 2018.

White has informed the outlet that Covington will be stripped of the interim title once Woodley – Till begins. Covington won the interim belt last month at UFC 225, by defeating Rafael dos Anjos.

Woodley hasn’t fought since last July, when he defeated Demian Maia by decision. Till’s last bout took place in May, when he earned a decision win over Stephen Thompson. Till missed weight for the contest.
