Report: UFC 156 Blood Test For Alistair Overeem Clean

UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem

Heavyweight’s Testosterone Levels Below Normal

By FCF Staff

Although Alistair Overeem had already passed the urine test he was administered following his UFC 156 bout with Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva on February 2nd, the Nevada State Athletic Commission had not released the results yet of a blood test the heavyweight was required to take.

According to test results released by the NSAC today, however, Overeem’s blood test for performance enhancing drugs has also come back clean. News of the results were reported by MMA Junkie.

Overeem was required to undergo the additional test due to testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone last year, which prompted the NSAC to deny him a license to compete. The decorated fighter, who was scheduled to fight Junior dos Santos last May, cited a medical treatment as the reason for his abnormal test.

Today’s results also reportedly show that Overeem’s testosterone levels were in fact below the normal range, which is typically between 250-1,100 nano grams per deciliter (ng/dL). According to the aforementioned report, Overeem’s test results indicated a level of 179.

Overeem, who was stopped by Silva in the third round at UFC 156, is set to fight dos Santos at UFC 160 on May 25th.
