UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo has shared his thoughts on the controversial issue of testosterone-replacement-therapy, and after announcing he has no issue with TRT, the fighter has reportedly questioned whether Randy Couture was “clean.”

Aldo made the comments in a recent interview with Tatame.com after he was asked for his opinion of TRT. The renowned fighter reportedly stated (as translated by MMA Fighting.com):

“I don’t see the problem with using TRT,” Aldo said. “Everybody uses (steroids), from the champion to the newcomer. I believe we (Nova Uniao) are the only ones that don’t do that, because Andre (Pederneiras) was always against steroids. I think it’s wrong to criticize someone who came forward and said they take TRT.”

“Americans always used that,” he said. “Randy Couture fought until he was 50, and you say he was clean? If the doctors prescribe you and you’re on the limits, OK, I see no problem. If I need that one day, I will use TRT too.”

Couture retired at the age of 47, after he was stopped by Lyoto Machida in April, 2011. The legendary fighter and former champion never tested positive for any performance enhancing drugs during his career. Couture has stated publicly in the past that he used supplementation, and not TRT, to increase his body’s natural production of testosterone.

Aldo is coming off a fourth round, stoppage win over Chan Sung Jung at UFC 163 earlier this month.
