The UFC continues to work on building its late summer and fall line-up, as it’s being reported the promotion’s close to signing a fight between Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos.

The light-heavyweight contenders are expected to battle on September 12th, at a location yet to be determined, according to a report from ESPN.

The 40-year-old Teixeira (31-7) has won four straight and is coming off a stoppage win over Anthony Smith in May.

Santos (21-7), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since he dropped a split decision loss to champion Jon Jones in July, 2019.”Marreta” sustained injuries to both of his knees in his loss to Jones.

Prior to the defeat, the 36-year-old had scored four straights wins.

Teixeira is currently ranked #5 in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division and Santos is #2.
