Rugged vet Cole Miller has made it clear he’s willing to fight rising star Conor McGregor next, and it looks as though the UFC may grant him his wish.

Recently the promotion announced that it will return to Dublin, Ireland for a Fight Night card on July 19th. In a follow up report from MMA Junkie, UFC President Dana White relayed that McGregor will likely compete on the card, and that further, a bout with Miller is a “possibility.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since August, when he outscored Max Holloway at UFC FN 26 for the UD win. The Irish fighter injured his knee during the fight, and has been recovering from surgery since. McGregor also mentioned at a pre-UFC FN 37 event this weekend that he’ll fight Miller “no problem.”

In December, Miller had this to say about McGregor, while appearing on Full Contact Fighter Radio:

“I figured that it was going to blow up,” said Miller, when asked if he was surprised by the amount of coverage his verbal shots at McGregor received, following his win over Andy Ogle in October. “I was more surprised with the focus they put on me specifically versus Conor, and not so much the issues I was trying to bring up.”

“That is, you can’t come in here, and by here I mean the UFC, and talk all this crap about the top ten fighters in the world, two of which are my teammates, and you didn’t even finish a 20 year old (Max Holloway) with seven MMA fights. That was really more what I was trying to bring about. Would I like to fight Conor? Sure. But I wasn’t specifically looking to milk that fight.”

More recently, Miller tapped out Sam Sicilia with a second round, rear-naked-choke at UFC FN 35 in January.
