UFC President Dana White has repeatedly stated the promotion would like to hold a massive event in the future at a venue like Cowboys Stadium, and now comes word that the Las Vegas Motor Speedway may also be in consideration.

According to a report from the Las Vegas Review Journal, representatives from the race track have approached the UFC about hosting an event, possibly as soon as September. White is quoted saying in the story that he likes the idea, and that the UFC has a “few fights coming up that could pull it off.”

Since the speedway is a 132,000 seat venue, any card held there that even approached a sellout, would beat the North American attendance record for MMA. That record was set at UFC 129 in 20011, which was hosted by Toronto’s Rogers Centre, and drew approximately 55,000 people. The event’s gate was around 12 million dollars.

The report adds that the Octagon would likely be placed on a temporary bowl in the speedway’s infield, so that fans would have improved sight lines to the cage. Large screen TV panels would also be set up.

The story did not include any details from White as to what bouts the UFC would consider booking for such an event.
