Report: UFC Fines Anderson Silva $50,000
By FCF Staff
It appears as though Anderson Silva has been reprimanded by the UFC, after the middleweight champ has reportedly elected to not attend various media events tomorrow in Los Angeles, which are to promote his July 6th bout with Chris Weidman.
According to a report from USA Today.com, Silva has been fined $50,000 by the UFC, as a result of his decision to fly back to Brazil rather than attend the events.
Neither the fighter nor his manager Ed Soares has made a public statement regarding the report.
Silva is set to fight Weidman at UFC 162, which will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
UFC President Dana White was quoted in the story stating that Silva has been fined, rather than pulled from the bout, due to the fact tomorrow’s events are not official press conferences.
Nick Diaz was pulled from UFC 137, and a title fight with welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre, after missing two press conferences.
