Report: UFC in Advanced Negotiations to Sell Promotion For Massive Sum
By FCF Staff
After purchasing the Ultimate Fighting Championship for $2 million dollars, the promotion’s owners are reportedly in advance talks to sell the company for upwards of $3 billion. Since the UFC is a privately held company, it’s finances and any talks to purchase it, do not have to be publicly disclosed.
According to a report from ESPN.com, however, sources have informed the outlet that at least four bidders are interested in buying the UFC. The story reports that the winning bid is expected to be for a valuation between $3.5 and $4 billion dollars.
The parties that are believed to be in the running include WME/IMG, China Media Capital, The Blackstone Group and the Dalian Wanda Group. The latter, which is headed by China’s wealthiest man, Wang Jianlin, is reportedly the front runner.
Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta currently own 80% of the UFC, while the promotion’s President Dana White and Flash Entertainment are minority owners.
