It looks like Calvin Kattar will be the next man who will attempt to halt the rise of Giga Chikadze, as it’s being reported the UFC is targeting a fight between the featherweights.

Chikadze (14-2) has been steadily climbing his way into the title shot mix, as the noted kickboxer has won nine straight fights, seven of which have been in the Octagon. MMA Junkie is reporting that two sources have informed the outlet that the UFC is looking to have Chikadze – Kattar headline a January 15th card.

The bout is not signed yet, but the fight is expected to happen.

In Chikadze’s last outing, this past August, he stopped Edson Barboza in round three.

Kattar (22-5), meanwhile, is looking to get back on track, after incurring a one-sided, decision loss to Max Holloway in January. Prior to that the contender had won back-to-back fights against Dan Ige and Jeremy Stephens.

Currently, Chikadze is ranked #8 in the UFC’s featherweight division and Kattar is #5.
