It looks like rising heavyweight Chris Daukaus will fight contender Shamil Abdurakhimov next, as it’s being reported the UFC is planning a match-up between the two.

The heavyweight fight is being planned for the UFC’s July 24 card, which has yet to have an official location or venue announced.

News of the fight was first reported by BJ Penn.com.

Abdurakhimov (20-5) is looking to get back on track, as the noted striker was stopped by Curtis Blaydes in his last bout, which took place in September, 2019. Prior to that, Abdurakhimov had won three straight.

Daukaus (11-3), meanwhile, has won four straight fights. In his last outing, this past February, Daukaus stopped Aleksei Oleinik.

The July 24 card will feature a fight between bantamweight contender Cory Sandhagen and former champ, T.J. Dillashaw.
