Alistair Overeem will not wait out the winner of the upcoming Junior dos Santos, Cain Velasquez rematch, as the decorated fighter will reportedly fight Antonio “Big Foot” Silva at UFC 156 on February 2nd.

The Super Bowl weekend bout was reported first by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and the story was tweeted by the official UFC Twitter account.

First, Overeem will have to apply for a license to compete in Nevada, as the feared striker was denied one earlier this year after testing for an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio.

The former Strikeforce and DREAM champ can begin the licensing process in late December.

Overeem (36-11) hasn’t competed since last December when he stopped Brock Lesnar in the first round.

Silva (17-4) is coming off a first round stoppage win over Travis Browne in October. After the win the Strikeforce vet relayed his interest in fighting Overeem.

UFC 156 will be hosted by the Mandalay Bay Events Centre and will feature a featherweight bout between champion Jose Aldo and former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar.
