Although Anderson Silva still had seven more fights on his current UFC deal, the legendary, 39 year-old fighter is reporting he has a new and even longer contract.

Silva, who will turn 40 next April, has told the Brazilian outlet Combate that he recently met with the UFC’s Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta. According to the former middleweight champ, they have negotiated a new deal for 15 fights.

Of course, Silva is under no obligation to fight 15 more times, if he elects to retire. What the contract almost certainly means is that Silva will retire as a UFC fighter, unless he’s released by the promotion.

“The Spider” also revealed in the interview that he is no longer sponsored by Nike, but that his camp is in discussions with Adidas.

Silva is set to face Nick Diaz on January 31st, which will mark the first time he has fought since last December, when he broke his leg while fighting champion Chris Weidman.
