Report: UFC’s Khabib Nurmagomedov to Undergo Surgery
By FCF Staff
Recently Dana White relayed that a bout between Donald Cerrone and Khabib Nurmagomedov was off, as a result of the latter injuring his knee, and now details are emerging about the severity of it.
Following Cerrone’s victory over Jim Miller at UFC Fight Night 45, Nurmagomedov called for a fight with his fellow, lightweight contender. This past weekend, White confirmed that the promotion was putting together the fight, but that Nurmagomedov injured his knee “20 minutes later.”
In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, the fighter’s manager, Mike Constantino, has revealed that Nurmagomedov torn meniscus in his right knee and will have to undergo surgery. The noted grappler will likely be out until January, 2015.
Nurmagomedov (22-0) has gone 6-0 since joining the UFC and the Dagestani fighter is currently ranked #4 in the promotion’s 155 division.
