Although it wasn’t long ago when there was widespread fears that the fighting career of Stefan Struve might be over, the heavyweight is reporting that he’s been cleared by his doctors to compete again.

Struve’s MMA future was put in doubt last summer, after the fighter was diagnosed with a leaking aortic valve and an enlarged heart. The towering, 26 year-old responded well to treatment, however, and recently he told USA Today the following:

“I’m just working on the last details with the UFC right now for my clearance,” Struve said. “They’ve got everything — my doctor’s letter, medical files and everything. Everything is there, and we’re just waiting on the UFC to do their thing.”

The 7’0 tall fighter hasn’t fought since last March, when he was stopped by Mark Hunt at a UFC on FUEL TV event. Prior to that, Struve (25-6) had won four straight, which included wins over Stipe Miocic, Lavar Johnson, Dave Herman and Pat Barry.
