Urijah Faber says he hopes to maintain a friendship with TJ Dillashaw, but now that the latter is leaving Team Alpha Male, apparently he will not be welcome to train with his former teammates.

Earlier in the week Dillashaw announced that he’s leaving the Sacramento based TAM to go train with the Elevation Fight Team in Denver, Colorado. The dynamic fighter will also train with TAM’s former head coach, Duane Ludwig, who has exchanged words with Faber through the media.

Faber appeared on the Stud Show Radio podcast to discuss Dillashaw’s departure. According to a follow up report from MMA Fighting, Faber relayed that he’s still open to having a friendship with Dillashaw, but made it clear he’s not happy with how the departure played out.

Dillashaw has expressed an interest in training with TAM members in the future, and coaching classes, but Faber doesn’t want that happening. Here is some of what Faber had to say about the issue:

“He said he wants to come back and be a part of our team, but he made a big boy decision. He walked away from the family that brought him up, the guys who were a big part of his success.”

“T.J. just said he wants to walk away from the team. That doesn’t mean you get to come in here and help coach the guys when he’s really going to be watching to see a little opening here or there.”

Dillashaw is scheduled to fight Dominick Cruz on January 17th in Boston. Faber, meanwhile, is booked to fight Frankie Saenz on December 12th.
