Report: Urijah Faber to Fight Masanori Kanehara at UFC FN 52
By FCF Staff
It looks as though Urijah Faber’s next fight will take place overseas, as the perennial contender will reportedly fight Masanori Kanehara at the Japan bound, UFC Fight Night 52.
The upcoming card is scheduled to take place September 20th at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. The bout was reported first by Fight Sport Asia, but has not been officially announced by the UFC.
Faber (31-7) is coming off a third round, submission win over Alex Caceres, after being stopped by former, bantamweight champ Renan Barao in February.
Kanehara (23-11-5) joins the UFC having gone 7-3 in his last 10 fights. Most recently the Japanese fighter was disqualified for a technical foul, while fighting Toshiaki Kitada under the DEEP banner.
There were reports Faber might face Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto at UFC FN 52, but the later is injured and won’t be ready for September.
UFC FN 52 will be headlined by a heavyweight fight between Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson in the main event.
