Report: Vitor Belfort Confirms Title Fight With Chris Weidman Targeted For Los Angeles

Vitor Belfort

Not long after news surfaced that the UFC has contacted the California State Athletic Commission about having Chris Weidman fight Vitor Belfort in their jurisdiction, the latter has confirmed that the fight is being targeted for Los Angeles on February 28th.

Belfort, who was in attendance at UFC 179 this past weekend, relayed the details regarding his bout with the middleweight champ to MMA Fighting.com. “The Phenom” also said that he’s “happy” the fight will go down in Los Angeles, where he lived when he first relocated to the U.S.

Last week it was revealed the UFC is hoping to host the title fight in L.A., despite the fact Belfort was instructed by the Nevada Commission earlier this year, to have his next fight take place in that state. According to the reports, the NSAC has agreed to let the CSAC oversee the bout, as well as the random drug testing regiment that is to be enacted for the fight.
