Report: Winner of Expected Dan Henderson-Daniel Cormier Bout to Receive Title Shot
By FCF Staff
Although the UFC has yet to confirm that Daniel Cormier will take on Dan Henderson next, it’s being reported that the winner of the expected, light-heavyweight match-up will receive a title shot.
Recently UFC President Dana White relayed via Twitter that the Cormier-Henderson bout is “not done”, after MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani reported it will likely take place at UFC 175.
Now, in the latest episode of “UFC Tonight”, Helwani reported the winner of the fight will receive a title shot, after Alexander Gustafsson challenges for the championship.
Jon Jones is set to defend the title versus Glover Teixeira on April 26th, and then Gustafsson is expected to face the winner of that bout next.
The Swedish fighter locked up another title shot in March, by stopping Jimi Manuwa in the second round at UFC FN 37. In September, Gustafsson lost a tightly contested and thrilling decision to Jon Jones at UFC 165.
UFC 175 will take place July 5th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, and will feature middleweight champ Chris Weidman taking on Lyoto Machida.
