Report: Winner of Ryan Ford-Jake Shields to Receive WSOF Title Shot

World Series of Fighting 14 will feature a pivotal welterweight bout between Jake Shields and Ryan Ford, so much so, the winner will move on to challenge for the promotion’s title.

The fight will headline this Saturday’s card in Edmonton, Alberta, and according to a report from MMA Fighting.com, WSOF vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz has confirmed the winner will receive a title shot.

Current champion Rousimar Palhares will look to defend the belt versus Jon Fitch on December 13th at WSOF 16.

Shields (29-7-1) will be making his WSOF debut on Saturday, as the accomplished fighter hasn’t competed since March, when he was decisioned by Hector Lombard at UFC 171. Shields was released by the UFC following the loss.

Ford (22-4), meanwhile, is riding a six fight win streak heading into the bout.

WSOF 14 will be broadcast throughout the U.S. on the NBC Sports Network and on TSN 2 in Canada.
