(Updated) Report: WSOF Acquires Aggression FC, Expands Reach Into Canada
By FCF Staff
It appears as though World Series of Fighting is Canada bound, as the Vegas based promotion has reportedly reached an agreement with Aggression Fighting Championship, which is one of the nation’s largest organizations.
As a result of the deal, which was reported as an acquisition first by Bleacher Report.com, WSOF will apparently start holding cards in Canada over the coming months. According to a follow up report from Top MMA News.com, WSOF is considering holding an event in Western Canada as early as this September, and cities like Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver are being considered.
The report also says that AFC wasn’t in fact purchased by WSOF, but that the promotion is closing down and that it’s top executives are joining the company.
Aggression FC was originally born out of the merger of three regional promotions, and the organization has held cards in several different Canadian markets.
Some of the top tier fighters who fought under the AFC banner include Ryan Ford, Jesse Ronson, Joe Doerksen and Louis Fisette, among several others.
