Report: WSOF’s Steve Carl Updates Condition After Submission Loss

By FCF Staff

Despite being forced to tap to a painful looking, inverted heel hook versus Rousimar Palhares on Saturday night, former WSOF welterweight champ Steve Carl is reporting he won’t require surgery.

The welterweight, who was submitted by Palhares at the 1:09 mark during their WSOF 9 headliner, relayed the news via Facebook on Tuesday.

“MRI results are in and im looking at a couple partial tears, severe sprains, and lots of soft tissue damage. NO SURGERY required!! Palhares gave me exactly what I needed a vacation and tons of motivation! I’ll be back and better than ever this summer I guarantee it!” -Steve Carl

Carl, who was defending the WSOF title for the first time on Saturday, also re-tweeted his status.

The 29 year-old choked out Josh Burkman at WSOF 6 in October to become the promotion’s champ, and was riding a seven fight win streak before facing Palhares.
