Report: Yoel Romero Headed to Bellator
By FCF Staff
It hasn’t taken Yoel Romero long to find a new promotional home, following his UFC release last week.
Not long ago it was reported that the 43-year-old, longtime middleweight contender had been let go by the UFC. Following that news, UFC President Dana White said that Romero was one of possibly 60 cuts coming to the roster.
Initially, Bellator President Scott Coker said that the promotion was going to pass on signing Romero. But, ESPN recently reported that Romero is expected to sign with Bellator shortly.
Romero (13-5) is planning to compete at 205 pounds, which reportedly changed Bellator’s stance on signing the powerful wrestler.
The Cuban star is coming off a decision loss to UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya and has lost three straight.
