After securing the WSOF middleweight title in June, it looks like David Branch will take on one of the planet’s top 18er’s next: former UFC contender Yushin Okami.

During a media call to promote WSOF 12, the promotion’s President Ray Sefo, confirmed that the Japanese fighter will challenge Branch next. According to a follow up report from MMAFighting.com, the fight will take place October 24th. The venue and location for WSOF 15 has yet to be determined.

Okami (30-8) made his WSOF debut in March and tapped out Svetlozar Savov with a second round, arm-triangle-choke. The renowned grappler was surprisingly let go by the UFC in late 2013, following a stoppage loss to “Jacare” Souza. Okami had won three straight heading into the defeat.

Branch (14-3) won the inaugural WSOF title in June by tapping out Jesse Taylor with a first round, D’arce Choke. The Renzo Gracie trained fighter has won four fights in a row.
