RFA 44: LW Champ Thiago Moisés to Battle Zach Freeman

By Press Release

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) president Ed Soares announced today that the RFA will be returning to the St. Louis area at the end of September. The main event of RFA 44 will feature a lightweight title fight between the reigning RFA champion Thiago Moisés and St. Louis’ top lightweight prospect Zach “The Altar Boy” Freeman. RFA 44 – Moisés vs. Freeman will take place Friday, September 30th at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, Missouri. The entire main card will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.

“I am happy to announce the RFA is returning to the St. Louis area with RFA 44,” stated Soares. “Thiago Moisés will be defending his lightweight title against St. Louis native Zach Freeman. They have identical records and an exciting contrast in styles, which will give local fight fans a great main event on September 30th.”

Tickets for RFA 44 – Moisés vs. Freeman are available for purchase NOW through CageTix.com/RFA.

Moisés (8-1) will defend his RFA lightweight title for a second time in the city where he made his RFA debut last summer. He won that fight against St. Louis native Javon Wright via Rear Naked Choke at RFA 28. Moisés won the vacant RFA title in his next bout with a highlight reel Helicopter Armbar against David Castillo at RFA 35. His title winning technique in Utah is a strong candidate to win “Submission of the Year”. Moisés then impressed UFC president Dana White with his first title defense in June at RFA 38. White was sitting cageside filming an episode of his  hit show Dana White: Lookin’ For A Fight. Moisés won that bout in the fifth round via TKO against fellow top prospect Jamall Emmers and is now looking to cement his status as the top lightweight prospect in the world.

“It’s great be back fighting in St. Louis where I made my RFA debut,” stated Moisés. “The people are great and I am excited to give them a good show, finish the fight in the first round, and sign with UFC.”

Freeman (8-1)  will be fighting minutes from where he grew up in St. Charles and is excited about fighting for the RFA lightweight title at the St. Charles Convention Center. The St. Charles MMA gym standout has compiled an identical 8-1 record as the champion and will be looking to utilize his substantial home crowd advantage as he headlines a nationally televised MMA event for the first time.

“I turned down a lot of other offers and opportunities to fight for the RFA lightweight title,” stated Freeman. “The glory behind winning an RFA title means so much to me. Thiago will be the toughest fight of my career and I will be the toughest fight of his career. This will be the biggest win of my career and it will be in front of my family, friends, and hometown fans.”

The co-main event of RFA 44 will feature a high-stakes flyweight bout in a Battle of Route 66. Ken Porter (9-2) of St. Louis will lock horns with Nick Urso (8-2) of Chicago in a bout between two of the division’s most exciting strikers. Porter, who is undefeated as a professional boxer, made a huge statement in his RFA debut last summer. That statement was made when he defeated former RFA flyweight champion Matt Manzanares in the co-main event of RFA 28. Meanwhile, Urso has been regarded as one of the top flyweight prospects in MMA for quite some time. He has spent time training between Valle Flow Striking in the Chicago area and Jackson-Wink MMA and is looking forward to battling Porter in enemy territory in the co-main event of RFA 44.

RFA 44 will be the promotion’s third event to take place in “The Show Me State” of Missouri and the second RFA event to be held in the St. Louis area. The entire main card of RFA 44 – Moisés vs. Freeman will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT on Friday, September 30th.
