RIZIN’s latest, New Year’s Eve card is in the books, and the event saw Kai Askakura and Kyoji Horiguchi leave with championship belts.

Asakaura faced now-former champ, Juan Archuleta in the card’s co-main event. Archuleta was stripped of the bantamweight title after failing to make weight, and was ineligible to reclaim the belt.

In round two, Asakura caught Archuleta with a booming knee to the body as the latter shot in for a takedown. Asakura followed up with several more punches from above and the fight was stopped.

In the main event, Horiguchi faced the rising Makoto Shinryu for the inaugural, flyweight belt. In the opening round, Shinryu defended guillotine choke attempts from Horiguchi and controlled more of the action from the top position.

In round two, however, Horiguchi secured a fight-ending, rear-naked choke in a scramble to win the flyweight crown.
