Following his impressive and pivotal victory at UFC 287, Rob Font’s hoping the promotion taps him to fight Deiveson Figueiredo next.

Font battled Adrian Yanez on Saturday night, and halted the surging contender’s rise up the ranks, by stopping him in the first round. Yanez had won nine straight bouts heading into UFC 287.

While talking to the media afterward, the 35-year-old Font let it be known that he’d be more than happy to face the former flyweight champ (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“I would love to do ‘Figgy’ vs. Font, man. (Deiveson Figueiredo), I’d love to introduce him to the 135 division. I think that’d be a fun fight. I think I like fighting big names. I definitely don’t want to fight backward, but I think me and him could definitely be a great fight. …

“He’s a former champ. He’s exciting. I know he’s going to talk a lot of sh*t. I think it’d be a great, entertaining type of fight, and I think I need another big name like that.”

After Figueiredo (21-3-1) lost to current flyweight champ, Brandon Moreno this past January, the noted finisher announced he’s moving up to 135 pounds.

Font (20-6), meanwhile, snapped a two-fight losing skid at UFC 287. The Massachusetts fighter was coming off decision losses to Marlon Vera and Jose Aldo.
