After defeating Sergio Moraes at UFC Wichita, surging welterweight Rocco Martin is campaigning for a bout with a top 15 ranked contender next.

Martin (16-4)worked his way to a decision win over the vaunted grappler on Saturday night, and in doing so, he extended his winning streak to four. Following the win, the 29-year-old Martin had this to say about his next bout (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I think that they have to give me someone in the top-15,” Martin said. “I think that I need to be on that ESPN card to try to get as much viewership as possible. Now is my time, I really need to make a push. I just need an opportunity. And that opportunity has to be someone that’s ranked and give me a higher spot on that ESPN card.”

“I think that Minneapolis card, it’s just destiny,” said Martin, while referring to the June 29 card in his state. “I think, right now, there’s not a bigger star in Minnesota. And I think it’s my time and it’s time for me to represent.”

Moraes (14-4), meanwhile, was coming off wins over Tim Means and Ben Saunders prior to facing Martin.
