Douglas Lima defended the welterweight championship by defeating Lorenz Larkin at Bellator NYC, but Rory MacDonald wasn’t impressed with the performance of either man.

Lima received a unanimous decision nod from the judges on Saturday night, in what was Larkin’s Bellator debut. After the fight, MacDonald was asked to weigh-in on the bout during the promotion’s pay-per-view broadcast, and the Canadian had this to say (quote via MMA Fighting):

“I was really underwhelmed,” MacDonald said. “I was expecting a good fight. I had a lot of excitement going into this fight. Larkin is an excellent fighter. If these guys think they’re keeping a belt fighting like that against me, it’s not gonna happen. I’m gonna take these guys out. They’re just gonna be another body in the grave.”

“This is the next chapter in my career,” MacDonald added. “I’m not playing games anymore. i’m coming forward, I’m doing my style now. I’m not playing games. I’m not point fighting anymore. I’m there to take you out. I’m hunting you down, and I’m gonna bury you and that’s it.”

MacDonald is coming off a submission win over Paul Daley in May, and many expect he will challenge for the welterweight title next. Lima reclaimed Bellator’s 170 title last November by knocking out Andrey Koreshkov.
