Ryan Bader Expecting Bellator Offer, “I’m in a Great Position”
By FCF Staff
Ryan Bader decided to enter free agency, prior to the final bout on his UFC contract, and it sounds like the decision may have paid off for the light-heavyweight.
Bader entered the free agent market after he stopped Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC Fight Night 100 in November. “Darth” did so having gone 4-1 in his last five fights and 8-2 in his last 10.
Recently the veteran fighter appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and Bader reported the following (quote via MMA Fighting):
“I have a Bellator offer coming either today or tomorrow,” Bader said. “We kind of know the particulars. I went out and met with Scott Coker and the Bellator boys and I liked what they had to say, and I liked what they were about. So we’re going through that process. That being said, the UFC has the right to match. It’s kind of in a weird place. I’m super-excited to be in this position. I’m in a great position.”
In recent months Bellator has signed free agents and UFC veterans like Benson Henderson, Rory MacDonald, Matt Mitrione and Phil Davis.
