Following his frightening weigh-in attempt at UFC Vegas 26, and his eventual withdrawal from the card, Ryan Benoit has shared out a statement.

Benoit was scheduled to fight Zarrukh Adashev on Saturday night. But, Benoit was shaky as he attempted to weigh in on Friday, and was unable to stand steady enough to get an accurate weight. After his second, weigh-in attempt, when Benoit came in at 129 pounds, the fight was called off.

Since then, Benoit has shared out the statement below.

“I would like to thank the Nevada commission, the UFC and the hospital staff for the utmost professionalism and care. Unfortunately I had a situation arise during the conclusion of my weight cut which resulted in my bout being cancelled. Everything was going well and we didn’t think hitting 126 was going to be a problem. It’s devastating to not compete tonight and earn a paycheck. It’s very unfortunate for my opponent and the promotion. Nobody wins in this situation.
Thank you to all my friends, family and fans for their kind words of support – I am humbled and grateful for all your well wishes”

The 31-year-old Benoit (10-7) is coming off a decision loss to Tim Elliott in July, 2020, and is 2-3 in his last 5 bouts.
