Sam Stout’s (pictured) first round knockout of fellow vet Yves Edwards was one of the highlights last night at UFC 131, and the lightweight has collected an additional $70,000 for his efforts. Stout caught Edwards flush with a crunching left hook that immediately knocked the Texas fighter out. So much so, no follow up strike was needed from Stout as he stood above his unconscious opponent. UFC President Dana White had the following to say about the stoppage which was declared “Knockout of the Night.

“One of the most vicious knockouts in UFC history, if not the most vicious.”

The epic battle between heavyweights Dave Herman and John-Olav Einemo was awarded “Fight of the Night” honors. The UFC newcomers will each receive an additional $70,000 on account of the memorable bout, which saw Herman stop Einemo in the second round.

“Submission of the Night” went to middleweight prospect Chris Weidman, who tapped out Jesse Bongfeldt with a first round, standing guillotine choke.
