Scott Coker: Bellator Will “do Our Best” to Sign Kayla Harrison
By FCF Staff
It remains to be seen which promotion Kayla Harrison will fight for next. But, according to Scott Coker, Bellator is going to work hard to sign the decorated fighter.
Harrison (12-0) won her second, lightweight tournament with the Professional Fighters League last month, and the 31-year-old also concluded her contract with the PFL. Due to Harrison’s impressive career to date, which includes winning two Gold Medals in Judo, there’s been extensive speculation about where the free agent will wind up.
Following Bellator 271 on Friday, which Harrison attended, Coker made it clear Bellator’s interested in signing the fighter (quotes via MMA Junkie).
“She’s an accomplished athlete,” Coker said. “She’s fought some good competition. I think she’s a hard worker. I watched her train about eight months ago, maybe six months ago in the gym. This girl is a force to be reckoned with. But I just wanted to let her know that we’re going to start talking to Ali, and we’re serious. We’ll do our best to put a deal together to have her come over here so she can fight Cyborg and some of the other girls we have on the roster.”
Harrison made her pro-MMA debut in 2018 and has finished 10 of the opponents she’s faced.
