Despite a determined effort, the reach and size of Stefan Struve was too much for Stipe Miocic today in Nottingham, England, as the 7’0 foot tall Dutch heavyweight stopped the American in the second round. The bout headlined Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV card, which was hosted by the city’s Capital FM Arena.

An aggressive Miocic managed to land several hard shots to the body and head of Struve in the opening round, but the rising fighter came out firing in round two and punished Miocic with jabs and crosses. As a hurt Miocic tried to recover along the Octagon fence, the referee brought the action to a halt to hand the heavyweight his first loss.

Nottingham’s Dan Hardy sent the hometown fans away happy, as the veteran turned to his developing wrestling game to outscore fellow striker Amir Sadollah. Although the fight featured several striking exchanges, as expected, Hardy took Sadollah down on several occasions and battered the welterweight for the unanimous decision win.
