Steve Carl Confirms WSOF Release
By FCF Staff
It looks as though Steve Carl’s run with World Series of Fighting has come to an end, as the promotion’s former welterweight champ is reporting he’s been released by the promotion.
Carl (21-4) recently took to Twitter to voice his displeasure, about not getting booked for more fights with the promotion. More recently, the 29 year-old fighter tweeted the following:
I secured my release from WSOF today! Sucks it had to come to this, but time to take a step forward and leave it behind me. #Determined #MMA

Follow up reports have confirmed that the WSOF granted Carl his release. The vet had been sidelined with a knee injury earlier this year, but reportedly received medical clearance on August 29th.
All this aside, Carl enters free agency having gone 8-2 in his last 10 fights. Last October, Carl became the first WSOF welterweight champ by choking out Josh Burkman. This past March, he lost the title via submission to Rousimar Palhares.
The only other man to defeat Carl in his last 10 scraps is current Bellator champ, Douglas Lima.
