Strikeforce has added undefeated bantamweight Cat Zingano to its roster and has announced she will fight Amanda Nunes on September 29th. The bout will be part of the promotion’s “Melendez vs. Healy” event which will take place in Sacramento, California.

Zingano (6-0) hasn’t fought since last May, when she knocked out Takayo Hashi with a third round slam while fighting for Fight to Win. Prior to that the 30 year-old scored a stoppage win over Carina Damm at a Crowbar MMA event in December, 2010.

Zingano stated via her official Twitter account:

@cokersf @amanda_leoa Thank you Scott for the opportunity and thank you Amanda, I look forward to the competition!

Nunes (7-2) is coming off a choke out victory over Raquel Pa’aluhi at Invicta 2 in July, after being stopped by Alexis Davis at a Strikeforce card last September.

The upcoming event will feature a lightweight bout between champion Gilbert Melendez and challenger Pat Healy in the main event.

The card will be hosted by Sacramento’s Power Balance Pavilion and will be broadcast on Showtime.
