Not long after news surfaced that Josh Thomson will fight lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez for a third time on May 19th, Strikeforce has announced two more bouts for the promotion’s upcoming San Jose card.

In addition to confirming the aforementioned title fight, Strikeforce has revealed that welterweight Bobby Voelker will fight Nah-Shon Burrell and that Mike Kyle will meet fellow light-heavyweight champion Rafael Cavalcante.

Voelker (24-8) will be competing for the first time since last July, when he recorded his second TKO victory over Roger Bowling to extend his win streak to three.

Burrell (8-1) has won three bouts now under the Strikeforce banner. In January, he worked his way to a split decision over James Terry to record his sixth consecutive victory.

Kyle (19-8) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Marcos Rogerio de Lima in September, after being stopped by Antonio Silva in December, 2010.

Cavalcante (11-3) rebounded from his March, 2011, stoppage loss to Dan Henderson in his last outing, by knocking out Yoel Romero Palacio in September.

The May 19th event will be hosted by San Jose’s HP Pavilion and will feature the heavyweight Grand Prix Finale bout between Dan Cormier and Josh Barnett.

The card will be broadcast on Showtime.
