Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos has won seven straight fights and has worked his way into the UFC’s top 15 welterweight ranks, but the fighter says he hasn’t reached his peak.

Dos Santos (21-5) is coming off a first round, submission win over Curtis Millender last month, which moved the 32-year-old’s Octagon record to 7-1. While discussing his UFC run recently, and what’s to come, the Brazilian fighter had this to say (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I think the results I’ve been showing are amazing,” dos Santos said. “I can make it a lot further, still. I don’t see myself at my peak, yet. I still have a lot of wood to burn, so I’m happy with my trajectory. Like you said, the opportunities could have come sooner, but I think they came at the right time. Sooner or later, things will happen.

“The important thing is to do my job, to perfect myself more and more. I will get there and for sure I’ll have the opportunity to fight for the belt and bring it to Brazil.”

More recently, dos Santos offered to step in and fight Robbie Lawler at the UFC’s June 29th card. Lawler was booked to fight Tyron Woodley, but the latter has been forced out due to a hand injury.
