Tamdan McCory Returning to UFC, Says he Turned Down Bellator Title Shot
By FCF Staff
It’s been over six years since Tamdan McCrory stepped in the Octagon, but “The Barn Cat” is a UFC employee once again.
Recently the promotion announced that the 28 year-old fighter has re-signed with the organization, after McCrory went 2-0 while competing for Bellator. After McCrory lost by split decision to John Howard in August, 2009, he was released by the UFC.
The New York fighter battled injuries, and stepped away from fighting, before returning to action last September and stopping Brennan Ward at Bellator 123. Then in February, McCrory submitted middleweight Jason Butcher in the first round.
In a follow up story from UFC.com, McCrory had this to say about his decision to return to the ZUFFA owned promotion.
“I left a title shot in [my last promotion] to come to the UFC,” McCrory said. “If I wanted to win that belt I could have stayed and done it, but I wanted to be back in the sport of MMA, not the MMA entertainment business.”
“I wouldn’t have come back if I didn’t believe wholeheartedly that I could come back and just wreck house.”
McCrory’s (13-3) next bout has yet to be confirmed, but relayed in the story that he’s hoping to fight in October or November.
