Tank Abbott To Return To Action Against Reuben “Warpath” Villareal At King of the Cage April 13

"Tank" Abbott

By Timothy J. Gilbert

Historic mma icon David “Tank” Abbot will return to the cage on April 13th for the first time since 2009 to face Reuben “Warpath” Villareal at the Golden Country Casino in Oroville, Calif. for the King of the Cage “Superfight” title.

The acquisition of Abbot came recently after King of the Cage signed a multi-year contract with MavTV, essentially securing new weekly broadcast slots.

King of the Cage administration spoke of their excitement when the signing occurred.

“There is no true MMA fan in the world who doesn’t know who Tank Abbott is and we’re thrilled that he has picked King of the Cage to resume his fighting career,” said owner, Terry Trebilcock Jr.

Abbot, who will be turning 48 in April, has not fought since his 29-second knockout victory over Mike Bourke in 2009.

His challenger, 43 year old Villareal, limped out of 2012 with two significant losses, and has only one win out of his last eight matches.
