Tanner Boser Admits he Wasn’t Expecting to KO Philipe Lins
By FCF Staff
Tanner Boser was responsible for one of the most memorable stoppages at UFC Vegas 4, but the heavyweight admits he wasn’t expecting to record a knockout.
Boser took on former PFL heavyweight tourney winner, Philipe Lins, and he finished the Brazilian with a series of punches in round one. After the win, the 28-year-old Canadian reported he was expecting a three round battle (quotes via MMA Junkie).
“I’m not one of the big power punching heavyweights. I’m fast and precise. The game plan worked. The leg kicks made him want to charge in and I made him pay for it.”
“I didn’t think it was going to be a brawl. I thought it was going to be a technical, but arduous night. I thought I’d win by decision because Philipe is a hard guy to put away. I thought we would put together a very technical striking battle.”
With the victory, Boser moved his record to 18-6-1. The Edmonton based fighter was coming off a loss to Ciryl Gane in December.
Lins, meanwhile, has lost two straight and now holds a record of 14-5. In Lins’s UFC debut last month, he lost via decision to Andrei Arlovski.
