By FCF Staff
Several days of bout confirmations has continued, as the Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced more fights for the promotion’s fall schedule.
Noted welterweight Thiago Alves (pictured) has his next bout, as the former challenger will meet UFC newcomer Papy Abedi at the promotion’s upcoming November 5th card in Birmingham, England.
Alves (18-8) will be looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Rick Story in May, after working his way to a decision win over John Howard at UFC 124 in December.
Abedi (8-0) hasn’t competed since October, when he submitted Nathan Schouteren with a first round, guillotine choke while competing for the Lion’s Den promotion. The accomplished judo practitioner has recorded seven stoppage wins in his eight pro bouts.
At middleweight, Nick Ring will meet Tim Boetsch at the UFC’s upcoming September 24th card in Denver.
Ring (12-0) is coming off a third round, submission win over James Head in June, after narrowly getting by Riki Fukuda with a decision victory in February.
Boetsch (13-4) made his debut at 185lbs. in May and overwhelmed Kendall Grove to record the UD victory. Boetsch made the drop to middleweight after being submitted by light-heavyweight contender Phil Davis in November.
Two more bouts have been added to the September 17th UFC Fight Night card in New Orleans, as lightweight Cody McKenzie (11-1) will fight Vagner Rocha (6-2) and welterweight Clay Harvison (9-3) will battle DaMarques Johnson (12-9).
