It remains to be seen if Tom Aspinall will ever battle Jon Jones. But, the rising heavyweight contender likes his chances against the renowned, champion.

Following Aspinall’s quick, stoppage win over Marcin Tybura at UFC London Saturday, the fighter reported he wants to face the winner of Ciryl Gane vs. Serghei Spivac. That fight will take place on September 2nd in Paris, France.

In addition, Aspinall noted that he sees that match-up as a path to a bout with Jones, who is booked to fight Stipe Miocic on November 11th.

While talking with the media after his latest victory, Aspinall was asked how he thinks he matches up against the champ (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“I think I match up well,” Aspinall said. “It’s a dream fight of mine. I think I’m young and I’m fresh. I’ve not got loads of miles on the clock. I’m big. I can do everything well. I’m fast, I’m strong, I’m heavy, which is unlike a lot of his opponents who he’s fought in the past. I just think I bring something different to him, and I think he knows that, as well.”

Saturday’s win marked the first time Aspinall (13-3) had competed since July, 2022, when he injured his knee just seconds into his bout with Curtis Blaydes.

The 30-year-old heavyweight has gone 6-1 in the UFC to date, and heading into this week’s action, Aspinall was ranked #5 in the division.

Jones versus Miocic will headline UFC 295, which will be hosted by Madison Square Garden in New York City.
