In a time when fighter injuries continue to dominate headlines, the UFC has received some good news today, in that rising heavyweight Travis Browne will not be on the shelf for an extended period of time.

Browne has announced via his Twitter account that the torn hamstring he incurred during his UFC on FX loss to Antonio Silva Friday will not require surgery. As a result, the fighter nicknamed “Hapa” could be back in the Octagon inside of six months.

And they said I tore my hamstring, ill be out for 2-4 months. Luckily no surgery. Thank you again for your support. Ill be back stronger!

It became apparent early into the UFC on FX headliner that Browne had injured his leg, however, Silva capitalized on the opportunity and put the Hawaii fighter away with strikes.

The loss was the first of Browne’s career (13-1) and ended the five fight, undefeated streak he had put together under the UFC banner. Since signing with the promotion the 6’7 tall, 30 year-old-fighter has scored wins over James McSweeney, Stefan Struve, Rob Broughton and Chad Griggs.
