After 22 fights in the Octagon, TUF 1 veteran Chris Leben has decided to call it quits on a MMA career that began in 2002. The 33 year-old middleweight will end his pro career having put together a record of 22-11.

The veteran fighter, who has lost four straight fights in the UFC, announced his decision on “The MMA Hour” program Monday.

“After [UFC 168], I wanted to go back and reevaluate things, make sure that the decision wasn’t based purely on emotion,” Leben relayed on the show. “That it was really what I wanted to do. And now, yes, I can say, I’ve really retired from competing in MMA.”

After competing on the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, Leben proceeded to win five straight bouts, but was eventually stopped by Anderson Silva in his Octagon debut in 2006.

In 2010, the noted slugger started a three fight win streak, but after a TKO loss to Brian Stann Leben went 1-4.

Most recently, “The Crippler” was stopped by Uriah Hall at UFC 168 in December.

During his accomplished career, Leben defeated notable vets like Wanderlei Silva, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Aaron Simpson, Patrick Cote and Jorge Rivera among others.
