Colby Covington has targted Tyron Woodley in interviews and on social media in recent weeks, but the welterweight champ claims his teammate won’t look at him in the gym.

Covington has made headlines recently by claiming that Woodley breaks in training and that he dominated the champion in sparring. The surging fighter has also said that he doesn’t consider Woodley to be a member of American Top Team, since the latter has been training extensively with Roufusport. Covington also claimed that he had “dirt” on Tyron Woodley, when the decorated wrestler was going back-and-forth with Dana White, following his decision win over Demian Maia.

More recently, Woodley was a guest on “The MMA Hour”, and the champion had this to say about Covington (quote via MMA Fighting):

“Colby Covington wasn’t even really in the gym at all,” Woodley claimed. “Not even training, he was too busy on Twitter. He was saying all this stuff, and now I’m in the gym, now it’s like, now where the talk at? Where you at? Nothing. Silence. And the irony of him having to shadowbox underneath the picture of me with the belt on, was enough for me.”

“I’m shadowboxing by you, I’m jogging by you, I’m standing near you, and you’re facing the wall and you won’t even turn around and look at me. You’re in the corner and you won’t move from that corner until I finish my workout and stand in the corner and shadow box in the same spot for 30 minutes and you wouldn’t turn your back. But you got so much to say on the internet.”

Covington has won four straight fights and is expected to face Maia on October 28th. Woodley, meanwhile, is still recovering from a shoulder injury he incurred in his bout with Maia, and is hoping to avoid surgery.
