UFC 137 Weigh-Ins: Penn and Diaz Have Heated Exchange

Penn

By FCF Staff

Despite having continually acknowledged  their mutual respect for one another,  Nick Diaz and BJ Penn had a heated exchange this afternoon at the official UFC 137 weigh-ins in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After Penn came in at 169 pounds for tomorrow’s main event, and Diaz weighed in at 170, the two needed to be separated after their stare down turned into a pushing match.

Aside from the drama tied to Diaz and Penn, the event’s other memorable moment came when heavyweight Roy Nelson hit the scale while wearing extensive padding under his t-shirt. The official number that was called out was 252, and it’s been expected for some time that the charismatic Nelson will head into his bout tomorrow with Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, having lost several pounds from his previous bout.

Featherweight Tyson Griffin came in at 149 pounds for his scheduled fight with fellow vet Bart Palaszewski, and was given one extra hour to make the 146 pound limit.

Here are the official weigh-in results for UFC 137.
