Legendary Fighter Says He Doesn’t Want Rematch With Weidman

By FCF Staff

Anderson Silva looked like he may pull off another electrifying victory tonight at UFC 162, however, the historic reign of the middleweight came to an end at the hands of Chris Weidman.

Weidman was able to take Silva down to the mat only moments into the bout, and after absorbing a few punches from above, the 38 year-old legend was eventually able to scramble back to his feet. As the opening round came to a close, Silva began to drop his hands, taunt Weidman to come forward, while throwing the occasional punch or kick.

In round two, Silva continued to showboat, and after pretending to be wobbled by a Weidman punch, the challenger landed a follow up hook that floored the middleweight. Weidman swarmed in for the finish and rendered Silva unconscious with several follow up punches.

Afterwards, Silva relayed that he does not wish to rematch Weidman, and added he does not want to fight for the belt anymore. The decorated fighter’s winning streak comes to an end at 17. Weidman begins his new reign as middleweight champ with a record of 10-0.
